Erotic candles are candles designed for an erotic setting. Types: aromatic candles with aphrodisiac essential oils (ylang-ylang, jasmine, rose) that set a mood; massage candles that melt into body-temperature massage oil; wax play candles, low-temperature wax (45-50°C) for pouring on the body in BDSM; and decorative shapes (penis, breast, torso). Wax play is a BDSM practice of pouring warm wax onto the body. Special paraffin candles melt at 45-55°C, warm not hot, and solidify quickly on the skin, for a sensation from warmth to hardening. Avoid: normal candles (60-70°C) that burn, beeswax (62°C), and soy without special manufacture. Safe: BDSM wax brands, paraffin with stearic acid for a low melting point.

Safety rules. Never leave an open flame unattended. On a stable surface, away from fabric/paper. In wax play: test on a small area (wrist) first, not on the face/eyes. Place a pillow shield underneath to protect sheets. Extinguish with a snuffer/lid, not by blowing (it splatters wax). In a fire: never water on a petroleum candle, use baking soda or smother with a lid. Not near alcohol or oxygen therapy. Keep children and pets away.
