Proper washing. Lukewarm water (not hot). Mild unscented soap or latex shampoo. Gentle rubbing with the hands. Full rinsing. Drying: a towel and hanging in the shade. Latex polish/shine afterwards. NEVER a washing machine, dryer, sunlight or heat above 40°C.
Hard without a lubricant. Talc or a latex dressing aid (silicone lubricant) inside. Or water + latex polish inside. Gradual application. Trousers from below, tops from above. No violent pulling. Latex shine spray outside for gloss. Practise first, with help if needed.
Proper storage. Away from light: UV changes the colour. Away from heat. Not on metal: copper/brass cause staining, so avoid metal buckles. Not together with other materials. Talc inside. No tight folding. Boxes or fabric bags. A lifespan of 2-5 years.
By material. Leather: a cloth + conditioner every 2-3 months, a waterproofing spray. Vinyl/PVC: water + soap, avoiding sun. Suede: a special brush + shampoo, no water. Latex: polish afterwards + talcum inside. Patent leather: a special cleaner. Store in boxes, with boot trees inside. Quality Pleaser: 2-5 years.
A silicone-based product for latex after dressing. A glossy wet look (iconic); without polish, latex is matte. Protection from wear. Anti-static. It preserves the colour. Application: spray onto a sponge/cloth, then spread. Before photographs. Brands: Pjur Cult, Vivishine. Not silicone car wax.
Repair is possible. Latex glue/cement: a special glue, applied to both surfaces, waiting 2-5 minutes, then pressing. Latex patches: self-adhesive for small tears. Sewing: NO, it creates stress points. For small damage: glue + patch. For large: replacement. Westward Bound, Atsuko Kudo offer a repair service.
Various uses. Role play: changing appearance (a blonde/brunette swap). Cosplay: anime, video game characters. Drag queen performance. BDSM: a dominatrix look. Two options. Synthetic: acrylic/polyester fibres, cheaper at 20-100 euros, holding their shape on their own (heat-set), not withstanding heat (a dryer, straighteners), a lifespan of 4-6 months with regular use. Human hair: from real human hair, more realistic, dyeing/styling like real hair, pricey at 100-1000 euros, a lifespan of 1-3 years; upkeep, more frequent, like normal hair. Advice: for occasional use (cosplay, party), synthetic; for frequent/daily, human hair is worth it.

Washing like natural hair: shampoo + conditioner. Drying and styling like natural. Frequency every 6-10 uses. Storage. On a wig stand or in the original packaging. Not on a flat surface, they lose shape. Brushing with a wig brush (not normal brushes). Avoid heat/sun.
